A bit of a departure today from my usual wine blogging. As a matter of fact, there will be no wine mentioned in today’s post so if that’s what you’re looking for – move along, now. WAIT! If you do go though, you won’t be able to read about my very delicious-made-me-think-I-was-back-home-and-not-in-London soft tacos and burrito I had the other day from Daddy Donkey.
Daddy Donkey is a taco truck in the best possible East LA tradition. Joel Henderson, the founder, started Daddy Donkey because he missed the Mexican street food he had discovered while studying in Mexico. Fresh, quality ingredients made from scratch everyday and then put together in front of your very own eyes just the way you like it. A bit more salsa, less lettuce and NO rice. Sorry but I hate the whole idea of putting rice in a burrito. Being a Mexican-American myself, we never put rice in our burritos when I was growing up, that is purely an American thing. Happily, Daddy Donkey was more then accommodating in foregoing the rice.
I shared the carnitas tacos with my lunchtime companion and had a whole carnitas burrito by myself. Everything was gorgeous and so tasty. From the black beans to the grilled peppers to the guacamole. That had to be some of the best guac I’ve had so far here in London. But be warned, the “medium” salsa definitely has a kick to it!

I’m dreaming of those tacos. Now if they could just get a margarita machine installed round the back….
