Cline ’06 Ancient Vines Mouvedre – The video tasting
The other night, after we closed up the shop, I persuaded my colleague Ayesha to go halfsies with me on the Cline ’06 Ancient Vines Mouvedre. I even talked her into doing a video tasting but she chickened out in the end so all you see is her hand. The Brixchicks out in Nor Cal recommended this wine on their blog. Technically, the vineyard is in Contra Costa County appellation and the price is £12.99 NOT £13.99. Click to see what I thought of it.

Great combinations – wine, music and comments. Oz Clark really likes this wine as well.
Thanks! Now I’d like to try the Cashmere, that’s the next wine on the shelf.
Neil
Denise,
It is good to see you even if it is just a video. I also enjoyed the music you selected.
If you see a bottle, Cline also makes an Ancient Vine Zinfandel that is a good buy. It costs about $15 here.
Cheers,
Neil
Hi Neil, I’ll have to keep my eyes open for the Cline Zin but now with the pound plummeting probably won’t have any until I get home on my next trip.
Glad you liked the music, I’m a big fan of jazzy tunes!
Love the video blog entry and so glad you liked the wine!
Thanks for the suggestion! it’s always nice to get a good CA wine here in London that doesn’t cost 50 pounds!
Nice work! What’s the music? Sounds like a contemporary Thelonious Monk cover. I love chocolate and alcoholic chocolate, yes – with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. Could be a good Valentine’s Day wine.
Thanks! The music is actually early Harry Connick Jr., before he went Hollywood he had a jazz trio. This track is ‘Stomping at the Savoy’ from his first movie soundtrack, ‘When Harry met Sally’. Excellent Valentine’s Day wine, it certainly will get you in the mood!
